Palm Beach County Proclaims May 2024 as Water Safety Month

During the Palm Beach County Board of County Commissioners meeting on Tuesday, May 7, the Board of County Commissioners proclaimed May as Water Safety Month, recognizing the importance of promoting safe water practices. Palm Beach County also acknowledges National Safe Boating Week from May 18-24, 2024, and National Beach Safety Week from May 20-27, 2024, as essential times to reinforce these safety messages.

“The Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation Department is committed to ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for all who visit our beaches and waterways,” said Jennifer Cirillo, director of Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation. “With May recognized as Water Safety Month, we urge everyone to prioritize safe water practices, always swim near a lifeguard, and follow the guidance of our skilled Ocean Rescue personnel, the PBSO Marine Unit and the U.S. Coast Guard. Together, we can enjoy the beauty of our parks and water recreation resources while safeguarding the health and well-being of our community.”
