On April 2, the Palm Beach County Sports Commission (Sports Commission) awarded the Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation Department (PBC Parks) its first Sports Hall of Fame Outstanding Sports Contributor award for its contribution to transforming the Palm Beaches into a leading and diverse sports destination.

New Program Aims to Increase the Number of Lifeguards in Palm Beach County

Pools nationwide have suffered from a shortage of lifeguards and swim instructors and Palm Beach County is no exception. That’s why the Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation Department and Children’s Services Council of Palm Beach County are launching a pilot program that will allow lifeguards and water safety instructors to become certified for free.

County and Soccer 5 USA Bring Small-Sided Soccer Complex to John Prince Park

On March 18, County officials and representatives from Soccer 5 USA commemorated the opening of a state-of-the-art small-sided soccer complex located at 2520 Lake Worth Road, between Congress Avenue and Lake Osborne Drive with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The celebration also included music, games, giveaways and soccer activities.

PBC Parks Provides Inclusive Recreation Opportunities and Experiences for People with Disabilities

International Day of People with Disabilities, celebrated on December 3, promotes and increases awareness and understanding of disability issues and mobilizes support for the rights, well-being, and acceptance of people with disabilities. This year’s overarching theme is “Transformative solutions for inclusive development” in the areas of employment, reducing inequity and sports.
